Several years ago, members of Roberts Presbyterian Church and David King of Sullivan-King Mortuary combined their thoughts and ideas to develop the 227 year old Roberts Cemetery into a cemetery to serve current and future generations. Through the collaborative efforts of a cemetery management company and Roberts Presbyterian Church, this site is now open to anyone desiring to be buried or entombed within this cemetery. The concept of opening a church cemetery to the public, providing endowed care for the grounds and revenue sharing with the Church is truly unique. The leadership at Roberts Presbyterian Church, both past and present, is committed to community outreach. Over the years, leaders have acquired land around the Church, now totaling around 50 acres, allowing for future cemetery expansion and the recent development of a community walking trail.
Working together with the Church, the management company has initiated Cemetery improvements including the completion of the Pavilion Mausoleum. In addition to the newly constructed mausoleum, ground burial spaces are available in sections of the cemetery allowing either flat bronze markers or upright stone monuments. There are also landscaped Family Estate lots that include private mausoleums combined with ground burial spaces and could be designed to accommodate and memorialize large or small families. Roberts Cemetery welcomes the opportunity to meet with anyone interested in this community cemetery conveniently located in the Western Anderson County near the shores of Lake Hartwell.
